Going to war with the corporations you have...

An excerpt on Alternet from Juan Cole's Informed Comment blog:
Juan Cole notes that Cheney's former company (Halliburton) appears to have charged $27 million to deliver $84,000 worth of fuel to Iraq (an over 10,000% markup) and has overcharged American taxpayers $108 million. You may go to war with the army you have, as Rumsfeld put it while trying to excuse the fact that soldiers were dying due to lack of protective gear, but do you necessarily go to war with the corporations you have? And remember, when soldiers purchase their own gear, the administration won't even reimburse them.

Cole, a history prof at the University of Michigan specializing in Middle Eastern studies, is in my view the best American blogger on Iraq these days.
