Barney Fife, where are you when we need you?

A friend emailed me about an Andy Griffith show episode he caught the other night that he had never seen before. I don't think I've seen this one either. Anyway, he wrote about it as follows and I just had to pass it along:
Barney is chasing a hobo away from the railroad tracks, and he stumbles across a briefcase with $250,000 in it. He tries to lure the thief who lost it into town, and he does--but he mistakes him for an FBI agent and gives him the money. Typical plot structure for the show. But the best line was this: Before they knew what was in the case, Andy was trying to open it to find some identification, and Barney kept trying to talk him out of it because the owner should expect that his "socks and
undershirts" would be private. Andy finally says he's going to take it to Goober to have him pick the lock, and Barney says, "Okay, but this is what leads to a police state!"
